6.Cookies
The LMS that is used uses cookies. These are small files that are stored on your end device via the browser. They enable the LMS to distinguish the individual browser of the data subject from other Internet browsers that contain other cookies. Cookies also store a user's preference settings. In addition, cookies serve the security of the users and the operator, because with the help of the cookie the LMS can check whether the call to a page in the LMS is actually carried out by the authorized person.

7. Use of the website and registration
The use of the website [Web address LMS] is possible with and without registration. The use of the LMS without registration is done as a so-called anonymous user. In this case, no personal data will be collected from you. However, without registration and login, you can only access and read what has been released on [LMS Web Address] without registration.

However, participating in user groups, writing forum posts, comments or internal messages, and many other functions, require a user account and therefore registration. After successful registration, you can log in to the LMS with the username and corresponding password and use the features offered.

8. Information upon registration and personal profile
When registering at [Web address LMS], the following personal data must be entered:

First name and surname
E-mail address
This data is necessary to identify you as a user in the system. In addition, you can voluntarily enter additional personal data, for example to provide information about yourself in your personal profile. You can change and delete this voluntary information at any time on the "Personal data and profile" page. This page can be reached via your avatar at the top right. On this page in the "Profile" tab you can also set whether and with what data your "Personal Profile" is displayed to other users on [LMS Web Address]. If your Personal Profile is not activated, the LMS will always show only your username on the contributions you make (such as comments, forum posts, blog posts, or wiki pages). However, if your profile is activated, your first name and last name will be displayed and usually presented as a link to your shared Personal Profile.

9. User Generated Content
You have the option to create content yourself in various places in the LMS. This could be, for example, contributions in discussion forums, comments on existing content or contributions to wiki pages. This content will be retained even after your user account is deleted. Also, personal data, such as your name or email address, that you yourself enter as content in such contributions will not be deleted after deleting your user account. Therefore, be careful when entering such data.

10. Access to Personal Information
Only the system administrators of the installation have unrestricted access to your personal data on [LMS Web Address]. In addition, personal information may be viewed by the administrators of the courses and groups to which you are a member, either because you have joined yourself or because you have been enrolled in these groups by others. An overview of all courses and groups of which you are a member can be found on your Personal Dashboard on the "My courses and groups" page. There you can also cancel your course or group membership via the action menu if you no longer want membership.

11. Retention period of personal data
Personal data is kept for as long as the user account of the respective user on [Web address LMS] exists. The data will be deleted as soon as the user account itself is deleted, either at the user's personal request or automatically due to inactivity (see the relevant provision in the user agreement above).
